And Finally... Blackpool: Paris of the north? (video)
Its image is more "aye up" than "ooh la la", but Blackpool aims to change that.
The northern seaside town plans to entice French tourists across the channel and up the M6 by showing off its Continental side.
And it is doing that with a short movie, called Blackpool Je T'aime (I Love You), on the town's tourism website and on YouTube.
The humorous art house film, with French-speaking actors, describes must-see landmarks such as the 518ft Tower - a scaled-down replica of the Eiffel Tower.
It also depicts French visitors turning up their noses at croque monsieur in favour of Lancashire hotpot, and running romantically along the beach.
A tourism spokesman said: "There is an untapped tourist market among the French for Blackpool.
"We harnessed the power of YouTube and a sexy French accent to attract visitors who may have once felt it was not for them."

Wonder what the French is for "Saucy Postcards" and "Stick of Rock"
To answer your question my friend:
Saucy Postcards = Cartes Coquines
Stick of Rock = Brindille de Roche
Wish you were here = Le désir vous étiez ici
And Finally...
What is the quicket way back to France = Ce qui est la voie quicket en arrière en France
At least the Council are actually trying to appeal to new markets. Lets face it their advertising budget is very small so they need sort or viral marketing. I think its a great advert. Blackpool is looking up, the prom will be finished in 2010, the council now own the tower, winter gardens, waxworks, sealife centre, mini golf, mr T's, and Bonny Street market!!!!
