And Finally... Hunter shoots wife by accident with shotgun

By James Shepherd on May 5, 09 12:09 PM in News

A man accidentally shot his wife in the foot when he tripped in a rabbit hole.

Jon Hudson, 47, and Mandy, 49, were patrolling their fishery looking for vermin when his shotgun went off.

Mrs Hudson was blasted in the ankle but was stable in hospital yesterday.

Cliff Roberts, 65, chief bailiff at the lakes, said: "It's a onein-a-million accident.

"He keeps the safety catch on. But the impact of the gun jarring might have been enough to set it off." Mr Hudson, who also works as an Ipswich council boss, was hunting rats at Bromeswell Lakes near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Police are examining his 12- bore double-barrelled shotgun. They said: "We are treating it as an accident."
