And Finally... Government to attack Mars (apparently)
The nation's favourite chocolate bars are under threat of being cut by a fifth in a Government bid to fight obesity.
But while popular brands including Mars and Kit Kat could be dramatically downsized, the prices may stay the same.
The Food Standards Agency wants to lop 8-10g from the average bar taking Mars and Twix from 58g to 50g.
Changes also affect snack-size treats with the FSA calling on confectionery giants to sell them as single items and not in multi-packs. The shake-up to cut our calorie intake also aims to shrink fizzy drink cans. The watchdog wants new sizes in shops by 2012 but Nick Hughes, of The Grocer magazine, warned: "It's unlikely that consumers will pay less."
Julian Hunt, of the Food and Drink Federation, said: "There is a difference between offering consumers choice and managing how firms run their businesses."
But the FSA's Gill Fine insisted: "We want to make it easier for people to make healthier choices - foods with reduced saturated fat and sugar or smaller portions."
