And Finally... £2million horse bet falls at final fence
A punter just missed out on £2million from a horse race accumulator after losing his final bet.
The racing fan had placed a £250 treble bet on a trio of horses winning in separate races at total odds of 3,600-1.
The unnamed Cambridge man was relying on fouryear-old gelding Red Merlin romping home in the 3.25 Totesport Ebor Handicap in York at 10-1.
If successful, he would have scooped two sets of £1million payouts from bookies William Hill and Ladbrokes. But he lost everything when Red Merlin wasn't even placed.
Ladbrokes said: "It's a relief. This would have been the most expensive loss in our history."
