A man burst into flames as he was shot by police using Tasers for the first time.

Dan Wood was sniffing an aerosol and the 50,000-volt charge ignited the vapour.

Wood, 31, suffered body burns in Lancaster, Ohio.

Police chief David Bailey admitted: "Clearly this is not the way we'd hoped to get started."
