Hi-tech addicts are scrambling their brains with too much technology at once.

Researchers found students who switch attention rapidly between texts, email and radio or TV cut their overall ability to absorb and understand the information they need.

And they are worse at new jobs than those used to being focused.

Prof Clifford Nass, of Stanford University in California, said of the trend: "Heavy media multitaskers are distracted by multiple streams."
