And Finally... 999 call to fetch drunk 32-year-old from seaside

A worried mum dialled 999 to ask police to collect her son from the seaside - then revealed he was 32 and drunk.

In another nuisance call, a man of 19 refused cigs by a shopkeeper rang police to prove his age by searching their national database.

One abusive woman called 999 twice for the number of the Citizens' Advice Bureau.

Kent police revealed the nuisance diallers take up 10% of their 250,000 calls a year.

They also took calls for taxis, chemist opening times and lost dogs. Police said: "Careless calls cost lives."
