And Finally... Ecstasy, LSD and cannabis 'less dangerous' than booze and cigs (apparently)

The Government's chief drug adviser yesterday declared that ecstasy, LSD and cannabis are less dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes.

Professor David Nutt said in a league table of risk, alcohol would be fifth behind cocaine, heroin, barbiturates and methadone. Tobacco would be ninth, ahead of cannabis, LSD and ecstasy.

Prof Nutt said in a lecture: "No one is suggesting that drugs are not harmful. But the critical question is one of scale and degree."
