BBC1 newsreader Fiona Bruce stunned viewers when she began an item on finance: "People wanting an orgy..."
Fiona, 45, who has an army of male fans, meant to say "people wanting a mortgage".
In an instant she recovered her poise and continued. But the gaffe on Monday's 10pm bulletin had countless viewers in stitches. Tom Morton of North London told the Mirror: "That was a classic." Neil Vernon of Slough, Berks, said: "I spat out my tea. We were on the floor laughing."
Jeff Breslin, from Edinburgh, said on Twitter: "I need a cold shower."
A Beeb spokesman said tersely: "This is not something we wish to comment on."
