And Finally... Tills jingle for record Christmas sales
Christmas shoppers are defying the recession as Britain's stores and retail websites continue to rake in record-breaking sales.
Retail giant John Lewis took £110million last week - smashing the record set the week before. Sales were 8% up on its previous biggest seven days in 2007.
Seven million shoppers flocked to the UK's 14 Capital Shopping Centres - including the Metrocentre in Gateshead and Glasgow's Braehead - a 35% rise on last year.
Shoppers spent £1.4million online in a SINGLE minute at Retail Decision at 1.34pm on December 7 - 61% more than the same minute a year ago.
About 4.2 million people are expected to visit vouchercodes.co.uk this month - DOUBLE last year's figure.
