In among the smelly socks and used mugs of the average teenage bedroom lurks £5,257 worth of gadgets, games and gear.
A survey by home insurers esure found the huge cost - mostly footed bymumand dad - includes the latest electrical equipment (about £1,700), clothes (£1,100), trainers (£250) and jewellery (£300).
With 3,796,600 teens in Britain, it adds up to almost £20BILLION. Esure's Mike Pickard said: "Their rooms are Aladdin's caves with hefty price tags to boot."
