Troy Polamalu, who plies his trade for the NFL team the Pittsburgh Steelers, is sponsored by Procter & Gamble due to his highly unusual 3m-long hair, which hangs out of his helmet and down his back when he plays.
Troy has been tackled by his hair on at least one occasion, when he was running for a tuchdown after an interception. It is not against the rules to pull someone down by their hair in the intensely physical game, so it make sense for the cosmetics giant to protect their extremely marketable investment.
The defensive player, who is Samoan by descent, says he has not had a trim for 10 years.
