And Finally... Four-year-old boy unearths ã2.5m pendant
A treasure trove inquest heard that James Hyatt of Billericay was searching a field near Hockley in May.
"All of a sudden we got a buzz from the metal detector, quite a strong buzz," said James's dad Jason.
"We dug six to eight inches down and lo and behold, we got a flash of gold. I moved the earth around and brought it to the surface and there it was."
The item was declared treasure trove at the inquest and was sent off to the British Museum for analysis. They said it weighed a third of an ounce (8.68g) with a gold content of 73%.
It is decorated with an image thought to be of the Virgin Mary and with the five wounds of Christ. It has a back panel which, when it was made, was designed to slide out and reveal a cavity, possibly for the storing of a relic.
If the pendant is sold, then the expected ã2.5m proceeds would be split between the Hyatt family and the owner of the piece of land where it was found, according to precedent in treasure trove cases.
