Broughton Memories: Historic church's 21st century role

By Chester Chronicle on May 29, 09 11:27 AM in 2000 onwards

A 19TH century church is taking on a new role as a combined place of worship and community centre.

The new chapter in the history of the newly converted St Mary's Church, Broughton, was marked on Sunday in a visit by the new bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Rev Gregory Cameron, in a service of thanksgiving.

Work on converting the church started in November. The building now has an upstairs meeting room and prayer room and the pews have been replaced by chairs, bought by members of the congregation and the wider community in memory of loved ones.
