Flint Memories: Search for owners of football caps

HISTORICAL items linked to a 1920s Flint footballer have been discovered in a Wrexham solicitor's office.

Gregsons Solicitors bought the assets of Clement Jones in 2005.

These included deeds and documents kept in storage in the Clement Jones branch in King Street, Wrexham.

While clearing these stored items, two Welsh Football Association (WFA) caps were discovered. They were awarded in the 1926-1927 season.

Gregsons probate administrator, Linda Tomkow, said: "I spoke with Ceri Stennett, WFA press officer and historian in Cardiff.

"He established the caps belonged to an Arthur Hughes who played centre half for Flint.

One of the caps was given to him as a Welsh junior player and one given to him as a Welsh amateur.

"Ideally we would like to locate the family as I'm sure they would love to have the caps. If we're unable to locate the family then we will pass them to a football museum."

Ceri added: "I had known about the caps for a few years, but it was only when someone came forward with details on the dates I was able to pinpoint who they belonged to.

"We have a museum in Wrexham and would be more than happy to have them if no-one comes forward."
