Cheshire Memories: Cheshire family history research software to be explained at Wirral meeting
ONE of the cornerstones of family history research is the certificate issued for the main events in all our lives - birth, marriage and death.
These have always been indexed for the General Register Office but are now being made available on the Internet.
And one of the most important resources for finding a birth, marriage or death in this county is Cheshire BMD, part of the UKBMD site.
The software for UKBMD was developed by Ian Hartas, who will be talking to the Bebington group of the Family History Society of Cheshire about the inside workings of the system.
The meeting will take place on Monday, June 22, at 7.30pm in Bebington Civic Centre.
The group meets on the fourth Monday of every month and welcomes new members.
A Help Desk is held in Bebington Library on the first and third Thursday each month between 10am and 12.30pm where members are happy to give guidance and help with anyone's family history research.
There will be an opportunity for those who cannot attend the Thursday morning Help Desks to ask questions about their research before the monthly meetings from 7pm.
For details on the group and any of its events, visit the Family History Society of Cheshire's website www.fhsc.org.uk
