Ellesmere Port Memories: National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port to go back in time for special family and history weekend

VISITORS to the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port will get a taste of the 1940s as part of a special family and history weekend.

A wide range of entertainment and activities are planned for the event this Saturday and Sunday between 10am-4pm in a bid to rekindle community interest.

There will also be talks by visiting speakers, exhibitions, and the opportunity to find out from experts how to start researching family trees, as well as the chance to swap ideas and stories with other family historians.

Entertainment includes 'Air Raid Archie', and a DJ playing music of the era will be performing in the Island Warehouse.

Classic cars and buses will be on display with the owners available to chat, and for younger visitors there will be themed activities in the Pattern Shop between 1-3pm.

Admission is £5.50 for adults, £4.40 for concessions and £3.60 for children aged 5-16. Under 5s and season ticket holders go free.

There will be free parking available for cars, bikes and coaches.
