Runcorn Memories: Bringing together old Brookvale Comprehensive School pals
EX-CHAMPION boxer, Runcorn's own Robbie Reid, will be among the guests when former Brookvale Comprehensive School pupils celebrate what would have been the school's 40th anniversary.
The reunion is being held at the Crest Hotel on Sunday, December 27, from 7pm-1am, and the main aim is to raise money towards Halton Haven.
The Haven was still a fledgling operation when Brookvale opened and pupils volunteered their services, helping to care for patients throughout their school years.
Stef Davis, one of the key organisers of the reunion, is hoping the guests will also include Liverpool comedian John Bishop. If he cannot attend, it is hoped he will donate several tickets for one of his shows, which will be among the tombola prizes.
More tombola prizes are still needed and donors should contact Jo Williams on her mobile, 07983 552 882.
Tickets for the reunion and buffet, priced £10, are available only from the Halton Haven Hospice and not the Holiday Inn.
Those purchasing tickets are asked to leave names and addresses and a note on the year they attended Brookvale Comprehensive.
Readers can enter into the Christmas spirit this Saturday, November 21, by dropping in at St John's Christmas Market being held in both the church at Weston and also the church hall next door (10am-4pm).
There are plenty of goods on offer (including bottles of award-winning beer) and visitors can also enjoy a light snack or home-made meal in the market cafe in the church hall. Admission is only 50p.
