Runcorn Memories: Do you know when Grange Infant and Junior Schools opened?
MINDFUL of the fact that Grange Infants and Junior Schools will eventually integrate with the Grange Comprehensive, Runcorn reader Paul Snelson wanted to know when both the infants and juniors opened.
Now 54, Paul attended Grange Juniors but says that before that they had to go to the church school on Halton Road because the infants school was overcrowded.
'We walked from Halton Road to the infants school for our dinners and then all the way back again for more lessons.'
Well, Paul, I didn't know the dates but the junior school staff tell me it opened in September, 1964, the year Paul mentioned.
The infants school staff didn't have the actual date the school opened. Apparently, this was the original school and it opened in the 1930s.
Can someone out there tell us more? If so, please email the Newsdesk

Hi Paul, Are you related to the Snelson's of Boston Ave. I went to the grange Junior School from 1953 - 1957 or around that period. It was the building behind Latham Ave and it was dated then so i imagine it would of been built in the 30's.
