Runcorn Memories: New Scribes and Scibblers book of Runcorn history out now
A GROUP of Runcorn writers this week launched a new book all about the town's recent social history.
Brindley-based Scribes and Scribblers produced Personal Memories of Lost Landmarks and Past Times in Runcorn, which is available now at the Curiosity Book Shop.
The book chronicles the experiences of youngsters in pre- and post-war Runcorn and the group is planning to release a Widnes version of the book by Easter.
Treasurer Evelyn Hayes, 80, of Runcorn, said: "We want to hear people's stories and their memories of places like the old cinemas and the transporter bridge, before everything changed.
"Some people won't remember what it was like and so it is important that they can go and find a book that tells you how it was back then, so that is not all forgotten."
The group recently received a £10,000 Lottery grant to help fund the project.
Anyone with any information for further publications can contact Evelyn on 01928 564538 or at 23 Regent Street, Runcorn, WA7 1LJ, or drop any relevant documents off at the Brindley theatre.
