Low Carbon: Cheshire police joins Carbon Trust scheme
CHESHIRE Constabulary has joined 68 public bodies to save £60m through the Carbon Trust scheme.
The county force aims to cut its carbon footprint and reduce energy bills by joining phase seven of the Trust's Local Authorities Carbon Management programme.
This will see participants collectively cut their carbon footprints by 395,000 tonnes and energy costs by about £60m per year.
Cheshire Chief Constable Dave Whatton said: "Through working in close partnership with the Carbon Trust on its LACM programme, we will establish a carbon management strategy and identify a set of practical actions that will help us to save cash and enable us to reinvest savings into front-line policing."
