Low Carbon: Cheshire West & Chester Liberal Democrats want action to cut carbon emissions
CHESHIRE West and Chester Liberal Democrats have urged the council to adopt the nationwide 10:10 Challenge.
This is where hundreds of companies and organisations pledge to decrease their carbon emissions by 10% during 2010.
Cheshire Police have recently announced they are taking part.
Cllr Malcolm Gaskill, leader of the Lib Dem group on the council, has been pressurising the executive to take immediate action on energy consumption and has proposed an initial list of measures.
He said: "The council has been talking about climate change but nothing has actually happened yet. However, I am pleased that my intervention at the Executive meeting was taken seriously and officers are now taking action."
