Low Carbon: Households in Wrexham to receive kitchen caddies to help with recycling
HOUSEHOLDS in Wrexham are to receive new kitchen caddies and blue recycling bags to give them more opportunities to recycle and compost their waste.
The move follows a pilot of 6,000 homes in July.
Deliveries began at the end of last month and will include a leaflet explaining the scheme.
The caddies are to be used in kitchens to collect food waste. When they're full the waste is tipped into the green bin along with garden waste. Corrugated cardboard can also be put into the green bin. The contents of the green bin will be taken to the new in-vessel composting unit on Wrexham Industrial Estate, where it will be turned into a soil improver.
The new blue bag, which replaces the green bag, will take all other cardboard as well as newspapers, magazines, office paper, Yellow Pages, telephone directories and catalogues.
Households who do not have a green bin will need to get one from Wrexham County Borough Council. Delivery of a green bin can be arranged by calling 01978 298989, which is the contact for more details.
