Low Carbon: Recycling kids' stuff is a growing business for two Cheshire mums
TWO mums have got together to set up a business to recycle children's clothes, toys and equipment.
Jo Fox from Malpas and Gaynor Roberts from Holt set up Kids Caboodle after realising there must be a better way to sell on children's bits and bobs other than through the internet or car boot sale.
Gaynor, 34, said: "As everyone becomes more aware of recycling and moves back to an age where community matters, we wanted to provide an opportunity for people to sell and buy well looked after, really nearly new children's toys, clothes and equipment while enabling mums to get together and make friends."
Gaynor and Jo make their money by hiring a community venue like a village hall then charging ã10 to book a stall, plus ã2.50 to hire a rail and ã1.50 for visitors to peruse the goods.
Gaynor, who has children Rosie, three and 12-month-old Tom, added: "As well as encouraging people to pass on their kids' caboodle, we also wanted to support an extremely worthwhile charity. We're pleased to donate 10% of all our profits to The Human Milk Bank Appeal, based at the Countess of Chester Hospital."
Gaynor, whose husband Mark is a manager for a building society, said she and Jo became friends after meeting at an ante-natal class.
Kids Caboodle have already hosted sales in Holt, Wrexham and Llangollen and have two more planned before Christmas - Saturday September 12, at Malpas Jubilee Hall, 2-4pm and Saturday November 14, Tattenhall Barbour Institute 2-4pm.
