Low Carbon: Delyn AM Sandy Mewies backs energy saving campaign
DELYN AM Sandy Mewies wants to persuade Welsh families to save energy and help the environment.
Mrs Mewies is backing a campaign by the Energy Saving Trust, which commissioned a survey to test people's climate change knowledge.
The results showed that people in Wales know more about climate change than their British counterparts, but don't seem to act on it.
"The Energy Saving Trust's research shows the Welsh public has the knowledge, however as a nation we need to start putting theory in to practice," Mrs Mewies said.
"When it comes to combating climate change everyone in the family can do their bit to help save energy and to help save the environment."
According to the research, Welsh mums are the country's biggest eco-pesterers as more than three-quarters of mums admit to pestering the rest of their family to do eco-chores or green tasks.
Helen Northmore, head of Energy Saving Trust Wales concludes: "Around 40% of carbon pollution is a result of personal choices, there is huge potential for everyone to start bucking the trend and saving some money too."
