Low Carbon: Holywell firm wins green awards
A PAINTING firm with offices in Holywell has been rewarded for being green.
Hankinson Painting Group won accolades in the construction and recycling categories at the Green Apple Environmental Awards and has been named a National Green Hero.
Details on the project to reduce the company's carbon footprint will be published in the Green Book, the only annual international work of reference on environmental best practice.
Group chief executive, Stephen Hankinson, said: "This is the first time we have entered the Green Awards and we are delighted to have our efforts recognised in not just one but two categories.
"It is a tremendous achievement. We are also delighted to become a Green Hero which shows to all, our long-term commitment to environmental issues."
Green organiser, Roger Wolens, said: "To show continued interest in environmental issues during the current financial climate shows great foresight and they deserve the recognition of being Green Apple Award winners."
The company was presented with its awards by keen environmentalist and actress Alexandra Bastedo, a former Bond girl, at a ceremony at the House of Commons.
