Low Carbon: Switch-off is bright idea

By Antonia Merola on Mar 25, 10 08:59 AM in Tips and Advice

WWF is aiming to shed some light for Flintshire residents on a big switch-off on Saturday.

Millions of environmentally friendly people are expected to show their concern for climate change and future of the planet to world leaders in the Earth Hour initiative.

The hour is on Saturday, at 8.30pm, with Flintshire residents invited to switch off lights in their homes and businesses.

Last year in Wales, nearly 70% of all local authorities signed up with more than 100 schools.

Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for North Wales, has given her backing for the scheme.

Ms Burnham said: "Signing up to WWF's Earth Hour is the perfect and easy way of showing you care about climate change and the planet.

"The threats to people and nature are real so I urge everyone to sign up in support of action against climate change."

"Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing people and nature, and demands urgent global action.
