            <title>Low Carbon: Eco plea to put clocks 1hr ahead</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Climate campaigners yesterday called for the clocks to be put forward one hour to save 450,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.</p>

<p>Their study showed being an extra 60 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time would cut electricity significantly as evenings would be lighter.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Low Carbon: Climate change causing flowers to bloom earlier</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Flowers and plants in the UK are blooming earlier than at any time in the last 250 years because of rising global temperatures.</p>

<p>A study, which uses "citizen science" - ranging from observations by Victorian vicars to Springwatch viewers - showed that plants flowered five days earlier in response to each degree rise in temperature.</p>]]></description>
