            <title>Low Carbon: BTCV members descend on Tattenhall Outdoor  Education Centre for climate change event</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>MORE than 100 volunteers descended on Tattenhall to create a  new wildlife hedgerow and send a  political message to world leaders.</p>

<p>Members of BTCV, formerly known  as the British Trust Conservation Volunteers, gathered on land near  Tattenhall outdoor education centre to  plant 2,000 trees and lay 340m of  hedgerow.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Low Carbon: South Cheshire children reminded to recycle at Christmas </title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>SCHOOLS across  South Cheshire have  had an early delivery  from Santa.</p>

<p>Thousands of children have been receiving specially designed cardboard  stockings. </p>

<p>These are  being coloured in and  are designed to remind children to recycle this Christmas.</p>

<p>When the festivities  are over they can then  be used to find out  more information on  how to recycle their  tree, used gift wrap  and cards. </p>]]></description>

            <title>Low Carbon: It&apos;s Tree O&apos;Clock at Ysgol Bryn Gwalia in  Mold</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>PUPILS in the eco-committee  at Ysgol Bryn Gwalia, Mold,  have taken part in a nationwide challenge to plant more  trees.</p>

<p>The 12 pupils aged seven to  11-years-old planted 12 trees  in an hour as part of  National Tree Week's 'Tree O'Clock'  challenge. </p>

<p>Teacher Helen Walsh, said:  "The children loved it, they  planted the trees in our eco  garden.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>TEENAGERS from across Flintshire got an insight into what it  takes to run a green business  when they took part in the UPM  Shotton 'Make It' schools challenge with teams from Chester  and Wrexham.</p>

            <title>Low Carbon: East Cheshire master composters to  spread the word</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>A GROUP of 20 volunteers have got their  hands dirty to become 'master composters'.</p>

<p>In October, Cheshire East Council  asked for volunteers for a free two-day  training course. Hundreds applied,  meaning the course was oversubscribed  by scores.</p>

<p>The course itself was held at Crewe  Hall Hotel over a weekend, with detailed  instructions on how to promote home  composting to householders. </p>]]></description>

<p>CHILDREN from St Winefride's Primary School in  Holywell have formed an  eco-committee to help the  school reach its environmental goals.</p>

<p>The committee, made up  of 10 children, will help to  make the school more sustainable and work toward  its gold eco award.</p>

<p>Headteacher Catherine  Roberts said: "The children  are very interested in the  environment.</p>

<p>"We have beautiful  grounds here so they're  keen to preserve nature  where they can.<br />
"We're also hoping to create a gardening area for the  pupils."<br />

<p>Details on the project to reduce the company's carbon footprint will  be published in  the Green Book, the only annual international work of reference on environmental  best practice.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>A VISIT to Kenya with Christian  Aid has inspired a volunteer from  Chester to shout louder about  climate change.</p>

<p>Sarah Rowe was one of  20  volunteers who spent two weeks  in Kenya to see first-hand the life  changing work of development  charity Christian Aid.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>FLINTSHIRE County Council  has pledged to reduce its carbon emissions by 60% by 2021.</p>

<p>As part of its Carbon Reduction Strategy, the council  has promised to reduce emissions from its buildings by 20%  in 2012, 40% in 2017, rising to  60% in 12 years time.</p>]]></description>
